Description
Theessink and Wilson discovered the blues in completely different ways. On the one hand, there was the Dutch boy who listened to Big Bill Broonzy on the radio, captivated, and whose love for roots music never waned. On the other hand, there was a US soldier stationed in Germany, who came from the birthplace of the blues but only encountered the music of his ancestors as “a stranger long way from home.” Theessink has been a Viennese resident for decades, while Wilson has, quite naturally, made his home in Germany. Each has earned a distinguished name in the international blues circuit in his own way.
